"The women of Bikini Kill let guitarist Billy Karren be in their feminist punk band, but only if he's willing to just "do some shit." Being a feminist dude is like that. We may ask you to "do some shit" for the band, but you don't get to be Kathleen Hannah."--@heatherurehere

Oh Brother

Sally hints that Charlie Brown needs to man up:

And now it's not even really hinting:

Very interesting blog! Though I might be a little ashamed by this, I love The Peanuts. Charlie Brown is my hero.

Hey KB--I love peanuts as well. Have you read the biography of Charles Shulz that came out a few years back? It's exhaustive...but interesting.

I don't put this up to tear down Charlie Brown--only to point out the ubiquity of gendered norms...

A lot of men shy away big time. There is also another side when quite a few "man-up" to a girl getting bullied.

I couldnt get my male friend to even watch a movie based on violence against women. He is fine with the gory violence of survival movies though.
I never get it.

My brothers(I have none by blood) would ask me to stay away from trouble rather than get involved- their way of protecting
