"The women of Bikini Kill let guitarist Billy Karren be in their feminist punk band, but only if he's willing to just "do some shit." Being a feminist dude is like that. We may ask you to "do some shit" for the band, but you don't get to be Kathleen Hannah."--@heatherurehere

Sticks and Stones

From The Fusco Brothers, which provides a seemingly endless supply of blogfodder: Because domestic violence is hi-larious.

it's interesting that they reversed the roles of abuser and victim, (but even then it's in the sissy-man cuckold, ridicule his manhood kind of way) but trivializing domestic abuse is how it gets normalized in our culture, so yeah, FAIL.

p.s. mind if i link to your blog?

Hey,
just discovered your site over a german feminist blog. I think it's great! And really interesting to have a man's view on feminist topics. Can I link your blog too? :)

la mestiza--
Link away! Thanks for stopping by.

Also, re: normalizing--that's one of the reasons I put up comic strips as examples of screwed up gender norms, because they are such a wee little pop-culture sort of thing, but those little things are part of what adds up to 'normalized'...

svenja--please link freely. :)

If you stop back by here, would you mind telling me which german feminist blog...?

Sure, no problem: http://genderblog.de/
Now I just hope I don't get into trouble for this... ;)

svenja,

Thanks for the link. I can only read the darn thing through google translation (I have only one semester of german from years ago), but it looks really interesting.

Why in the world would you get in trouble for it...?
